Stellar Road Contributes to Compilation Album
by Justin Briggs
Jul 28, 2008
Stellar Road recently recorded an updated version of the Civil War era classic, “When Johnny Comes Marching Home” for a compilation album entitled Have You Seen My Hero. 100% of the proceeds from the album go to benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, an organization that helps the families of military personnel who were killed or seriously injured while serving their country.
Music producer and musician, Scott Anderson, contacted the band from New York hoping they would agree to become a part of the project. The members of Stellar Road were more than happy to contribute. Stellar Road took a short break from recording the band’s soon to be released second album to record “Johnny.” In one day, with no rehearsal, they were able to complete an impressive recording. The members of the band wanted to breathe new life into the song while preserving the original spirit of the American classic. The release date for this compilation is set for late September.

The University was recently involved in a tragic campus shooting with six student fatalities.

The benefit event will take place on Monday, March 10, 2008 from 3:00pm-Midnight. Local bands will perform a variety of acoustic acts for a minimum entrance donation of $10. SR's New Drummer: Maurice Jones
by SR CREW
Nov 11, 2007
Yup, finally after many months of auditions... Stellar Road has aquired one of the area's most talented players. Maurice Jones: Drummer / Producer, has officially joined the squad. I got a chance to see them at their first performance together in Peoria, IL this past Friday and let me tell you he's got some seriously "tasty" grooves and ridiculous chops. Stellar Road's live sound has taken took a huge leap. From the intro to the first song to the end of the third song the chant from the crowd was "Maurice! Maurice!" An awesome sight to see all the boys smiling after a long hiatus with the band. After talking to Maurice Jones in person for a few minutes he had this to say before he took the stage on Friday, "I've been so impressed by these guys. Their unique and original songwriting craft is something that I've always wanted to be a part of. I think my experience can contribute to this and I'm excited for the challenges ahead."

Of all the tunes they played that night, the new ones really caught my ear. Songs like Heaven, Legitimate and Gotta Make Away we're really grooving that night. Can't wait for everyone to hear them! Get your asses out to a show!

PS. House of Blues on January 5th!
